In 2010 a team of Tadburn U9 Cougars and Panthers went on tour to Picardie in Northern France. This was the first time in nearly 40 years of Tadburn's history that a team had been on tour to a foreign country!

The team, led by captain Tim Crossland and vice captain Oliver Farrell, was a real credit to Tadburn Football Club and the town of Romsey. They were shown such kind friendship and hospitality by all players match officials and people of Rue and the surrounding area.

The tournament itself was a great success with Tadburn finishing second having played all eight matches without a single defeat! A very special mention to Tadburns keeper Kyle Hampton who finished with eight clean sheets - not a single goal conceded! Jo-Jo Jenner scored 5 goals and Tim Crossland scored 7 goals. They were real goal machines!

A new partnership clicked from the word go in the shape of the defensive duo, Ollie Farrell and Jake Keane who were really solid in front the keeper. Another revelation was the midfield partnership of Jack Houghton and Connor Sedman-Lamb.

A special thanks to Howard & Clare Crossland without whose hospitality the trip would not have been possible (sorry for all the noise and mess!). Thanks also to Mike and Lewis Houghton for their help with training and match days.

Finally, a big thank you to local businesses who made the tour possible, namely Matt Dumsday City Safe Wholesale, John Chantler Southern Stronghold Ltd, Waitrose Romsey Branch, Paul at U-Drive Romsey.

Long Service Presentation to John Mason & Neville Porter
from Tadburn Youth FC

A Presentation was held at Romsey’s Comrades Club to show appreciation to two of Tadburn’s long serving Managers.

John Mason, who recently hung up his Managers boots with the current under 15’s team, started with that team when they were under 9’s.  Ironically, he took over from Neville Porter who had managed them from the beginning.

Neville dropped down an age group and recently finished managing one of the under 14 teams.

Both have had their share of success in different ways and continue to be involved with the club, albeit with different hats on.  John is still involved with refereeing whilst Neville is a keen supporter of various age groups.

Parents, players and current managers were there to see John and Neville receive engraved glass tankards from Club Chairman, Dave Harrison.
